General Service Questions
Do I need to make an appointment at Merson Automotive, or can I just drop by?

How often should I change my oil?
Regular oil changes are essential to keep your engine running smoothly. Most vehicles require an oil change every 5,000 to 8,000 km, but check your owner’s manual for manufacturer recommendations. Need an oil change? Schedule one today.
How often should I have a wheel alignment?
To keep your car driving straight and prevent uneven tire wear, we recommend a wheel alignment at least once a year or whenever you notice pulling or steering issues.

How do I determine the size of my tire?
You can find your tire size on the sidewall of your current tire. Not sure what’s best for your vehicle? Our team can help you find the perfect fit! Contact us for assistance.
What brands of tires does Merson Automotive sell?
We carry a wide range of top-brand and budget-friendly tires, including Yokohama, Nokian, Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Pirelli, and more. Special orders are available if you’re looking for a specific brand.
How much will my tires cost?
Tire prices depend on brand, size, and type. We offer competitive pricing on new and used tires, plus installation. Get a quote today.
How do I know when I need new tires?
You may need new tires if you notice low tread depth, cracks, uneven wear, or frequent loss of pressure. The quarter test is a quick way to check tread depth—insert a coin into the tread; if you can see the top of the figure’s head, it’s time for a replacement.
How often should I check my tire pressure?
Check your tire pressure at least once a month and before long trips. Proper inflation improves safety, fuel efficiency, and tire longevity.
Why and when do I need to rotate my tires?
Regular tire rotations every 8,000 to 10,000 km help prevent uneven wear and extend the lifespan of your tires.
Why does Merson Automative fill tires with nitrogen?
Nitrogen-filled tires retain pressure better than air-filled tires, leading to longer tire life, improved fuel efficiency, and better overall performance. We offer nitrogen inflation at no extra charge.
Winter Tires
Why do I need winter tires?
Winter tires provide better traction, braking, and safety on icy and snowy roads. In Quebec, winter tires are mandatory from December 1 to March 15.
How do I know if my tires are winter tires?Look for the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake symbol on the tire sidewall — this indicates it meets specific standards for severe winter conditions.
Can I drive on my winter tires all year long?
We don’t recommend it. Winter tires wear faster in warm weather, reducing performance and fuel efficiency. Switching to all-season or summer tires in spring and summer extends their lifespan. Under conditional circumstances, such as extremely low mileage, winter tires can be used on your car all year around.
Are my winter tires and summer tires always the same size?
Not necessarily. Some vehicles use a smaller winter tire but equivalent in size for better traction. Our team can help you find the right fit.
What do I do with my extra set of tires?
We offer seasonal tire storage so you don’t have to worry about where to keep your off-season tires. Ask us about tire storage options.
